Walter, The Little Jack Russell That Could
By Angel Mitchell, DVM
Walter is a two year old male Jack Russell Terrier that was hit by a car on February 6, 2009. He had some minor cuts and bruises but the worst part was a dislocation of the vertebrae causing mild paralysis. He could walk a little but was very painful. Unfortunately, as time went on he seemed to get worse instead of getting better. By March 14th he was dragging his rear legs and did not know where his feet was.
So we decided to try some acupuncture on him. After each treatment his owners felt he was showing wonderful improvement. After his second treatment he was walking and by his fourth treatment they were having a hard time keeping him quiet. After seven treatments, he was trying to jump up on things and acting like a typical Jack Russell!
Last time we spoke to his owner she requested that maybe we should have stopped treatments sooner as he is more active than before his accident and getting into plenty of trouble!
